Graduate Paramedic Program (GPP)

The QAS GPP is a program where graduates are required to work under the supervision and coaching of experienced QAS personnel to develop the level of competency required of an Advanced Care Paramedic. The program is designed to be delivered full-time over a twelve (12) month period with options for flexible delivery, which is determined by operational requirements at the time.

The QAS recruits Graduate Paramedics who currently hold a sufficient level of registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) or are in the process of obtaining relevant qualifications to acquire a sufficient level of registration with Ahpra.

Mandatory Requirements

Applicants must meet the below requirements to be eligible for the QAS GPP:

  • Are you eligible to work in Australia? You will be required to provide certified evidence of your ability to work in Australia (e.g. Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship, Australian resident status or a valid work visa).
  • Have you completed a Bachelor of Paramedicine (or equivalent) OR are you currently studying Paramedicine and due to complete your degree by 30 June 2024? You will be required to provide a certified final academic transcript displaying a final grade point average (GPA) or weighted average mark (WAM) OR evidence of enrolment in the final semester of studies and interim academic transcript showing GPA or WAM.
  • Do you hold a Queensland Light Rigid (LR) Driver Licence (for a manual motor vehicle) or are you able to obtain one prior to appointment? Applicants who do not currently hold a LR Driver Licence, must have a minimum of a Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver Licence (for a manual motor vehicle) prior to the closing date for applications to be eligible to apply. An automatic driver licence or learner permit is not acceptable. Interstate and international applicants must hold an equivalent licence at the time of applying and will be expected to obtain a Queensland Driver Licence upon appointment.
  • Have you applied for paramedic registration or are you currently in the process of obtaining registration? Applications for the GPP will require proof of qualification and current registration under the National Scheme as determined by the Paramedicine Board of Australia. If you have not yet completed your qualification you must provide proof of registration to the QAS Recruitment team as soon as practicable following completion. Please refer to the Ahpra website for further information regarding national registration.
  • Do you have less than two years’ working experience as a paramedic, which may include the completion of a graduate program? The Graduate Paramedic Program is the most appropriate pathway for applicants who have up to two years’ working experience, even if a graduate program has been completed. Should you have more than two years’ experience, the Qualified Paramedic Campaign may be more suitable for you.

If you meet the mandatory requirements and are able to supply the required application evidence, you are eligible to submit an application during an active campaign.
