Overseas study grants

When you apply for one of our overseas study grants, you must be able to demonstrate that it’ll help you meet a career development objective and contribute to improving our services.

Dr Peter Stephenson Overseas Study Grant

This grant was established by Brisbane medical specialist Dr Peter Stephenson. It recognises the exceptional clinical care he received from our paramedics after he was seriously injured in a farming accident.

The $5,500 grant is supported by Dr Stephenson for officers to go to an overseas clinical conference or a similar educational activity.

The conference or activity must be relevant to paramedic practice, out-of-hospital care, emergency medicine or ambulance operations.

Bundaberg Local Ambulance Committee State Operations Grant

This grant supports professional development opportunities for uniformed officers in our operations centres.

The $5,500 grant is for an officer to go to an overseas clinical conference, such as the annual International Academies of Emergency Dispatch NAVIGATOR conference.

The conference or activity must be relevant to emergency dispatch, resource deployment or ambulance operations.

Professional development grants

Australasian College of Paramedicine Professional Development Grant

This $2,000 grant is supported by the Australasian College of Paramedicine. It supports a project or activity that promotes community engagement and culturally safe out-of-hospital healthcare

Brodie Taylor Professional Development Grant

This $2,000 grant supports a project or activity that enhances community resilience, responding to an emergency and, or first aid.

Blackwater Local Ambulance Committee Regional Development Grant

This $2,000 grant supports a project or activity that enhances out-of-hospital health care in our rural and remote communities.

QAS Professional Development Grant

This $1,500 grant is supported by Laerdal, and is for a resuscitation or trauma project or activity.

How to apply

To apply, you must:

  • be employed under the Queensland Ambulance Service Act 1991
  • not have received the grant previously
  • have endorsement from your region's Assistant Commissioner.

Application forms

You must include:

  • written evidence of support from your region's Assistant Commissioner, such as an email
  • information about the learning and development activity
  • a statement about the expected benefits
  • a budget and timeline estimates.
