First Aid Training Courses

First Aid Awareness Courses

Parents, Bubs and Toddlers First Aid

Description:

Each year in Queensland alone, over 15,500 children aged under 15 years present at hospitals for injuries sustained in the home, yard or garden*. Around 15% of these children require admission to hospital. Almost 40% of backyard injuries are associated with falls. Other major causes include cuts, incidents with animals and bike accidents.

Course content:

The Queensland Ambulance Service now has a first aid awareness course aimed at providing parents, grandparents and carers of babies and young children with basic first aid skills in such areas as:

  • Performing CPR
  • Treatment of burns, cuts, choking, croup, febrile convulsions
  • Anaphylaxis and asthma management
  • And more!

Introductory First Aid Courses

Apply First Aid – HLTFA311A

This course prepares you to respond to emergency situations by providing you with the skills and knowledge in first aid treatment.

Course delivery options:

Course content:

  • responding to and managing an unconscious casualty
  • performing CPR
  • communicating details of the incident
  • respiratory and cardiac emergencies
  • bleeding and shock
  • acute medical emergencies
  • musculoskeletal injuries
  • traumatic injuries to the head, spine, chest, abdomen and pelvis

Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - HLTCPR211A

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in an emergency situation.

Low Voltage Rescue with CPR

If you are working in the electrical industry, this refresher course will provide you with the knowledge in low voltage rescue as well as resuscitation skills in the event of an electrocution incident.

  • introduction to electrical safety regulations
  • use of low voltage rescue equipment
  • performing a rescue from a low voltage switchboard including resuscitation

First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis - 22099 VIC

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to manage an anaphylactic (allergic) emergency, undertake risk assessments and implement risk management strategies.

Course delivery options:

  • First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
    3 Hours face to face

Course content:

  • Assess the situation (for anaphylaxis)
  • Provide appropriate treatment for anaphylactic reaction
  • Identify individuals at risk of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis Develop individual anaphylaxis management plans
  • Implement strategies to prevent allergic and anaphylactic reactions
  • Communicate with stakeholders in relation to incidents and raising awareness of allergic and anaphylactic reactions

  • First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis - 3 years
  • Perform CPR - 12 months

Provide First Aid in a Remote Situation - HLTFA302C

This course provides you with the essential knowledge and practical skills to apply first aid and manage casualties in remote situations where arrival of medical assistance may be delayed.

    1 Day face to face

Course content:

  • responding to an emergency in a remote situation
  • provide first aid in a remote situation
  • work in conjunction with medical personnel and emergency services support
  • evaluate the incident

Advanced

This course prepares you to provide advanced resuscitation techniques and incorporates the use of automatic external defibrillators and advanced oxygen equipment.

Course delivery options:

  • Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques - 1 day

Duration:

  • 8 hours in class and
  • completion of pre-course workbook

  • use of advanced resuscitation equipment

This course builds on the Apply First Aid course to include advanced first aid skills and the use of a range of life saving equipment.
