Key facts

We are one of the largest ambulance services in the nation (both geographically and demographically), comparable with New South Wales and Western Australia. However, we have the highest number of incidents per 1,000 people.

We have the highest percentage of frontline staff in comparison to other ambulance services.

We consistently deliver the highest ratio of ambulance officers for every 100,000 people. In contrast, many other states and territories rely heavily on their volunteer workforce particularly in rural and remote locations, this demonstrates our commitment to delivering high-quality ambulance services to all communities of Queensland.

Cost per incident

The average cost per incident (emergency, urgent and non-emergency) for the 2023–24 financial year was A$957.
