Student Paramedics
The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) is transitioning its paramedic recruitment in line with a University Undergraduate Degree program and at this time no further Student Paramedic recruitment campaigns are planned. Therefore the preferred pathway for paramedic employment is now through the Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic).
The Council of Ambulance Authorities (CAA) has established an accreditation process for tertiary paramedic education programs across Australia and New Zealand.
This has been developed to ensure that the workforce skills and professional competencies required to meet community health care standards for the delivery of pre-hospital care, are properly reflected in related education programs.
It is expected that graduates from a CAA accredited program will possess the requisite competencies required for employment on merit with an Australian ambulance service as an entry level Ambulance Paramedic.
