In December 1990, the Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Select Committee of Inquiry into Ambulance Services tabled the Committee ’s First Report in the Queensland Legislative Assembly.
The report made a number of recommendations which documented a “path for the future” for ambulance services in Queensland. The principal recommendation was the formation of a state wide ambulance service to be known as Queensland Ambulance Service. This organisation was created on 1 July 1991 following passage of the Ambulance Service Act 1991 in May 1991.
The 10th anniversary of that event is an opportunity to report back to the people of Queensland on the outcome of that change and progress made on the implementation of the recommendations of the Select Committee.
