E-Learning Options
Queensland Ambulance Service now provides e-learning options for Apply First Aid and Perform CPR first aid courses.
What is e-learning?
Course participants complete the theory and assessment components at their own pace, at home or at work, via DVD ROM. Participants must then attend an assessment session to complete the practical assessments (such as CPR and bandaging).
Course participants must have access to a PC and a printer to complete a Queensland Ambulance Service e-learning course. You will require:
Windows ® 1 GHz Processor Windows XP Sp2, Windows Vista Sp 1Gb RAM 1024 x 768 minimum resolution graphics card Sound card and speakers or headphones DVD ROM Drive |
OR |
Macintosh ® PowerPC ® G5 or Intel; 1GHz Processor Mac OS x V10.4 1Gb RAM 1024 x 768 minimum resolution graphics card Sound card and speakers or headphones DVD ROM Drive |
How do I complete an e-learning course?
Step 1: Theory Component
There are a number of chapters for each course. At the end of each chapter you complete a quiz relating to the content you have just covered.
Once you have successfully completed all chapters and quizzes, print out the completed Progress Report. It is important you do this as it must be handed to your instructor at your assessment session to confirm you have successfully completed the theory component.
Step 2: Practical Assessment
The second and final step is completing your practical assessment at an assessment centre with an accredited first aid instructor. The required hours for an assessment are:
- Perform CPR - 1.5 hours nominal duration
- Apply First Aid - 2.5 hours nominal duration
You must successfully complete both steps before you are issued with a nationally accredited Queensland Ambulance Service First Aid Statement of Attainment.
