Commissioner's Message
The Mission of the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) is to improve the well being of the community through the delivery of high-quality ambulance services and that mission drives all of us.
The framework to deliver that mission is provided by our strategic plan developed with valuable input from the community through our Local Ambulance Committees in conjunction with other stakeholders within and external to QAS.
This strategic plan provides a blueprint for the future direction of ambulance services in Queensland and is aligned to State Government priorities for a safe environment, community engagement and a better quality of life.
QAS is delivering a range of services and products that support those objectives thereby improving the innovation and skills base and building Queensland's regions.
There are many aspects of our blueprint that will assist us to maintain our reputation as one of the world's best. We are committed to continuing the transition of our paramedics to full health professional status. This transition is well underway with widespread recognition of ambulance personnel as well-educated and competent health professionals.
Among the priorities for the QAS are the modernisation and upgrading of ambulance services including education, training, equipment and technology to help us deliver on our commitment to provide the highest possible standard of pre-hospital care.
Our partnership with communities is invaluable and our Local Ambulance Committees play a vital role as the interface providing local knowledge crucial to the future decision making of the Service at a local and State level.
Put quite simply when someone in our community calls triple zero (000) they expect a rapid response and flawless care when Paramedics arrive and we will continue to make every effort to deliver on that expectation.
